Excellent pairing w/Intel CPU to breathe new life into an older laptop5/21/2019 4:40:24 AM
Pros: Easy to clone old spin drive to this SSD, for significantly faster performance--especially if you double original laptop memory in the process. Why spend far more for a new laptop? Intel's excellent support and driver site is a bonus. Then there's Newegg's typically swift delivery.
Cons: none to date
Other Thoughts: List price is higher than the best alternative, a Crucial MX500, or basically the same price as Samsung 860EVO. While any of these three are solid choices, if you can wait to get the Intel on sale, do it.
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: copied my old Intel 320 onto this in 20 minutes using Mini Partition Wizard. Plopped it in my ThinkPad and here I am, somewhat faster and lots more storage. No complaints. NE delivered in one week. Love it when tech works.
Cons: non yet
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: -Price was good ($35 w/discount code)
-MIGRATION SOFTWARE IS EXCELLENT
-Performance is outstanding
-5 year warranty - Intel stands behind its product

Cons: I honestly can't thing of a downside here.
Other Thoughts: I was skeptical given my experience with migration software in the past. This is a 256gb SSD migrating from a 512gb 4200RPM laptop drive. I was expecting a message indicating I would need to purchase a larger capacity SSD. It couldn't have been easier. Took about an hour to transfer the data. The laptop was nearly unusable it was so slow. This drive has given me back my laptop. Boots in mere seconds and is now really responsive. Programs load quickly. Download the SSD toolbox to check firmware and trim the drive. That and the migration software are available on the Intel site.
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Very Fast
Cons: None that I have witness so far
Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
Pros: >intel built TLC memory, not samsung or micron
>all aluminum casing with thermal pads on the controller and memory modules to transfer heat away. so the case actually has use outside of looking cool and housing the components
>very low power usage compared to even samsung
>doesn't slow down as bad as even samsung ssd's when 50%+ capacity used
>as fast as any other sata 3 based ssd on the market
>144tb minimum write durability

Cons: bit pricey but you're paying for intel's name
Other Thoughts: picked this up as my new boot drive to replace my former samsung 850 evo boot drive that committed seppuku. yeah it is slower here and there than other drives out there in its class but really with sata 3 maxing out at 550mb/s it really doesn't matter. you're not going to notice the difference unless you bench to look for them. what matters is build quality and support and intel hits both. intel's software is solid, not full of bloat, and doesn't act like a botnet. i was impressed with my intel 660p 1tb i picked up so i purposely looked at intel first for my new boot drive.

Product is great but took forever to ship.1/14/2019 9:31:37 AM
Pros: Great SSD haven't had any problems with it
Cons: Took 12 days to receive the item, which 4 of them was spent in packaging the item. If you want this item in less then 12 days pay for better shipping because don't expect normal shipping to be here within 4-7 days like it says.
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: I got it on sale.
Cons: I still paid too much for an SSD that failed 3 weeks after installing it.
Other Thoughts: This is the first Intel device I have ever purchased, it is the last one I ever purchase. Not going to RMA, the enjoyment of crushing it was far more satisfying for all the trouble it has caused me, I will take it as a lesson learned that over priced does not mean good!
Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
Pros: Reliable. Fast. Quality. Sleek silver look.
Cons: None.

By PCWorld on 90 Supplanting the Samsung EVO as the top dog in the low-end SSD market, the Intel 545S is the first bargain TLC drive we've tested that won't invoke buyer's remorse the first time you have to write a lot of data to it. It's not as fast as an MLC drive, but darn close. The 5-year warranty and 288 TBW rating are major perks as well.

By TomsHardware on 85 The Intel 545s moves this series a step further, but it sits in the shadow of the 600p. It’s still not a true 850 EVO competitor when it comes to performance, but Intel is getting closer with the mainstream 5-Series.
By TweakTown on 94 Put the Intel SSD 545s on your short list because it is one of the best SATA SSDs on the market.
By PCPer on 95 I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of the Intel 545S 512GB SSD. What initially looked to be just another client SSD turned in some very impressive figures in our test suite, beating out the Samsung 850 EVO in many tests and nearly surpassing Intel's own NVMe offerings in some of the others.

Intel has successfully launched a new generation of flash memory and a new mainstream consumer SSD. They haven't completely upended the SSD market like some of their SSD launches in the past and the impact will be muted at first due to limited supply, but this is still clearly a step forward.
